2025 IROS half-day workshop
Intelligent Robotics: Harnessing Embodied Intelligence and Learning for Next Generation Manipulation(teleoperation)
Oct 20th 2025 (Afternoon)
Room 103B
Overview:
This workshop explores how embodied intelligence, multi-modal perception, and foundation models (e.g., LLMs, VLMs) are advancing robot manipulation in dynamic, human-centred environments. We will examine how intelligent robots learn and generalise complex skills by integrating classical control with machine learning, enabling adaptive perception, decision-making, and collaboration. Applications in healthcare, manufacturing, and service robotics will be discussed through both theoretical and practical lenses.
Aim & Scope:
This workshop aims to advance the understanding of embodied intelligence and learning-based manipulation by intelligent robots. We focus on integrating multi-modal perception—including tactile sensing, visual inputs, and language models—for dexterous, adaptable robotic behavior in complex environments. Particular attention will be given to the interplay between reinforcement learning, imitation learning, and foundation models such as LLMs and VLMs. The workshop also seeks to bridge the gap between academic research and practical deployment, fostering collaboration across robotics, AI, and human-robot interaction domains. Through these efforts, we aim to highlight emerging trends, unify classical control theory with modern learning techniques, and promote cross-disciplinary synergy for the next generation of robot manipulation systems.
